In a bid for a better world, we left the busy south coast of England and headed for the hills of West Wales. We moved to Wales for a more sustainable lifestyle, without the chaos that surrounds cities creating a feeling of imbalance on a daily basis. Life has been flourishing since.
We are no-dig organic gardeners, who revel in maintaining our land, growing heritage varieties were possible and always maintaining a practice of organic gardening.
We took on a decaying and neglected old farmhouse and began restorations. We cleared the land from decades of rubbish which had accumulated, most of it just under the surface of the soil.
We have a small, wooded area, which is good for coppicing and collecting wood, we have plenty of barn space to store the wood to dry it out for use on the burner. After two years at Glanrhyd we are now beginning to use the dead wood which we coppiced on first arriving.
The old hedgerows which surround our land had also been neglected. This meant that we had to learn the ancient skill of hedge laying. Skell has found his way with this and for the last two summers the parts of the hedge which has been fixed and maintained is now flourishing and abundant with wildlife and blossom.
We are peace activists who are a little burnt out from all the protest of the previous decades. We are over here now, hoping for a better world, knowing that paradise is possible and waiting for the wars to stop. We live in peace, hope and love.
