Christine Clark nee Flanagan aka Missiformation is a creative with a passion for positive social change, biographical writing, sustainable living, food sharing, arts, music, film, participatory community events and grassroots initiatives.
Born and raised in Liverpool, England, Christine was aware from a young age of class struggles and the political climate that brought nationwide riots and social unrest during the 1980s.
With the end of the rave era and the threat of Poll Tax and the Criminal Justice Act, Christine left Liverpool to live in Holland and work and travel internationally for the following decade.
In 1999, Christine became a visual artist on the Dutch squat DIY scene and started making visual backdrops of moving and still images for events.
In the early 00s, Christine returned to the UK to live and continued promoting events and creating visuals for these events with a number of residencies in Brighton, Bristol while continuing to return to The Hague also to VJ at the Paard. Christine worked with a number of well-known jungle and reggae artists, through promoting events, creating flyers, posters, t-shirts and visuals to illuminate the dancefloor. Throughout this period Christine worked on various arts and media projects, including hosting the Global Voices tent at WOMAD festival; a political film event which hosted films and discussions with filmmakers and academics.
For decades now, Christine has been creating community events in a participatory manner for grassroots initiatives.
Having left school without any formal education, Christine returned to study in 2009 and graduated from the Open University with a 2:1 in BSc Psychology with Honors. In 2021, Christine graduated with an MA in Media Practice for Development and Social Change at the University of Sussex which is the world leading Development Studies institution. Christine began making films again and received a Distinction for her final media project which consisted of a website, podcast and short documentary about the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act, which included interviews with Jeremy Corbyn and Dave Ward.
In 2022, Christine decided to follow her dreams of living a sustainable life and moved to Wales to create a homestead. After two years, Christine and her husband Skell, have mostly renovated their old Welsh farmhouse built in 1888 and created a no-dig garden and polytunnel.
Christine is intrigued by all things retro and spends a lot of time finding and rennovating mid-century furniture. The most current restoration is a 1973 Alpine Sprite caravan.
Since the summer of 2023, Christine has been inspired by the GANTOB project and has started writing short biographical stories and contributed to all of the GANTOB books so far.
Christine has also been working with StephenClarke1980 to create art videos for The Krossing 2023, Chill Out Live and She Does Porn.
It did a lot for my psychology to write this third person and to refer to myself as Christine. It feels almost Cagney and Lacey. I was allowing myself to side lisp every time I said my own name. Helpful when you are learning Welsh as a second language.
